FCSA toughens codes of compliance and transparency

The Freelancer & Contractor Services Association (FCSA) has launched revised Codes of Compliance, which the organisation says have been toughened and mandated greater transparency to inform agencies, end hirers and contractors.

FCSA says this latest comprehensive review of the Codes took five months.

The increased transparency applies to the financial illustrations that FCSA member firms must provide to contractors. “Member firms are required to provide greater transparency regarding holiday pay in every umbrella employment contract and payslip. They must also submit independently-audited accounts,” the FCSA said.

In addition, the FCSA has introduced new pre-requisite and due diligence checks on all new applicants for membership that they must pass before proceeding to the accreditation assessment stage.

Independent assessors EY, Saffery Champness, BDO, Brabners and JMW contributed to the review with support from industry trade bodies, the FCSA said.

“Every step of the assessment process is conducted by independent and regulated accountants and solicitors with vast experience in the sector,” the FCSA said. “No member of FCSA staff, the board or membership are involved in this process, ensuring complete independence.”

The Codes are published on the FCSA website.
