How do i make 25 staff redundant?

We have been told by our head office to cut costs by £1 million by the end of the month, and that we have to do this by letting staff go. This means losing 25 members of staff! What do we do?
Unfortunately, this sort of question is not uncommon, particularly in recruitment. Of course, employee rights are such that instant dismissals on cost cutting grounds are not lawful.

The prudent recruiter will use the time available to plan and execute a proper redundancy...
