Cash injection raises health stakes

The Department of Health has given Pasa, its main purchasing body, a bigger budget and remit. David Arminas asks whether the money will be well spent

THE NHS PURCHASING AND SUPPLY Agency has done pretty well out of the Department of Health’s review of arms-length bodies. With a 40 per cent boost to its annual spending power – now a whopping £21 billion a year – an increase in its responsibilities, including private healthcare, and improvements in purchasing structure, the future looks bright for Pasa.
