Effective operations

Judging operations management solely in terms of output, cost and productivity is too introspective in a competitive situation, suggests CIPS chief examiner Alex Skedd

Operations can be thought of in terms of a model of input-transformation-output, but how should this take place? As cheaply as possible? As quickly as possible? As productively as possible? All of these together? In other words, what are the criteria for judging operations?

The phrase “satisfying the customer” probably springs to mind when considering this issue...
