The British government has increased the pressure on the public sector to deliver better services, which means value for money is more important than ever for procurement. Peter Gershon reports on its progress

The government’s delivery and reform agenda aims to transform public services to meet the needs of customers and deliver better services. Speaking in Downing Street after the 2001 general election, prime minister Tony Blair said: “It is a mandate for reform and for investment in the future and it is also very clearly an instruction to deliver.”
