New regulations make property owners and lessees responsible for looking for the biggest cause of work-related deaths in the UK - asbestos - on their premises. Andrew Hennessey explains

Asbestos-related diseases are the greatest single cause of work-related deaths in the UK. These diseases (mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer) are thought to kill up to 3,000 people a year, which is expected to rise to 10,000 by 2010, according to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
