More than nine years after joining the universities sector and three months after leaving East Midlands Electricity (EME), Shirley Lewington has found that spreading the word for good purchasing has supplanted writer’s cramp in her working day. “When I was at Nottingham Trent University, one of my jobs was to sign up to 100 purchase orders a day,” she says.
