Although its adoption has been patchy, e-commerce offers smaller firms the potential to compete with corporate giants and to create new types of business. Geoff Tyler reports on some early success stories and assesses the fears holding others back
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grab business-to-business trade from larger companies, they have always needed to offer more innovative products or react more quickly to customers’ needs. The Internet not only accentuates these abilities, it allows SMEs to compete on the same level as the big hitters.
