If you lose your job, it’s a downturn. If I lose my job, it’s a recession. For recruiters, if anybody loses their job the alarm bells ring, so the recent news from the US of layoffs and recruitment freezes must send a shiver down the spine, particularly as recessions are known to cross the Atlantic much faster than booms.
