A Stratford-upon-Avon recruiter has landed a contract with a Bratislava-based firm to find engineers to build the world’s first mass-produced flying car.

Last year saw the 30th anniversary of 1980s hit film Back to the Future. The portion of its sequel, set in 2015, correctly predicted digital TV as well as video conferencing but many of us lamented the lack of flying cars.

Well, engineering recruiter Consilium Recruit is about to help change all that through its new recruitment partnership with Slovakian business AeroMobil.

The contract sees Consilium recruit engineers and managers with extensive experience in aerospace, automotive and Formula One to produce the flying cars, which use regular automotive fuel and can be used on the road just like any other car. The main difference, however, is drivers can take-off from any airport, legally approved grass strip or paved surface in the world, providing it’s a few hundred metres long.

Consilium said it is one of the few companies chosen to support AeroMobil in finding talent to get the latest prototype of the car to next stage development due to Consilium’s knowledge and expertise in the aero and auto markets.

Consilium added it has already successfully placed the head of vehicle engineering into the business and will continue to work with the team to finalise the placement of three more senior department heads with them.
