Both employers and jobseekers are using more and more job boards within a single search, reveals data from board Jobsite in its ‘Winter 2011-12 Recruitment Review’.
In the November 2008 data, 6% of jobseekers were using five or more job sites, which rose to 14% last November, while the number using one or two fell from 67% to 58%.The number of firms sourcing candidates through more than five boards rose in this period from 3% to 7%, and in the same period the number of firms using newspaper ads fell from 39% to 28%, but the number using trade publications has remained more stable, fluctuating around the 20% mark throughout the last four years.
However, the number of jobseekers using online job search methods only increased marginally, from 83% to 84%, while networking was the fastest growing method; used by 51% of jobseekers in November 2008, this became 60% in the most recent data.
Jobsite.co.uk managing director Mike Wall says that the report “demonstrates a positive shift towards online recruitment as recruiters look for ways to extract better value from their advertising”.
