An 8% year-on-year growth in online recruitment was again driven by strong growth in Germany, with declines in four of the seven countries surveyed.
This is according to the Monster Employment Index (MEI) from jobs board Monster, which shows 23% year-on-year growth in online jobs advertised in Germany, alongside 8% in the UK and 2% in Sweden.Telecommunication and environment, architecture & urbanism were the top growth industries, both at 19%, followed by engineering (14%), education, training & library (11%) and production, manufacturing, maintenance & repair (10%).
Italy (-1%) and France (-3%) saw minor decreases in online job opportunities, while in Belgium (-12%) and the Netherlands (-20%) saw more significant declines.
Alan Townsend, vice president of sales readiness and business operations for Monster Europe, comments: “While overall online recruitment remains positive with the Index exhibiting both month-over-month and annual growth, this is combated by a broader deceleration across key markets and industries.
“However, from an occupational standpoint, growth remains strong across the technical and associate level positions, which suggests a hiring of support workers to meet the more immediate business needs.”
