INTERNATIONAL US: Unemployment down in 30 states

Unemployment decreased month-on-month in 30 US states in March, with the nationwide rate at 8.2%, 0.7 percentage points down from the same month the previous year.

Unemployment decreased month-on-month in 30 US states in March, with the nationwide rate at 8.2%, 0.7 percentage points down from the same month the previous year.

This is according to data released last Friday, 20 April, by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Alabama (2%), Florida (1.7%), Michigan (2%) and Nevada (1.6%) saw drops in their unemployment rate year-on-year of over 1.5%, while drops of 1.5% exactly were seen in South Carolina and Tennessee.

Twelve states, as well as the District of Columbia, saw no changes in the unemployment rate, while eight states saw increases.

The West remained the region with the highest unemployment rate (9.6%), and the Midwest the lowest (7.4%).
