The unemployment rate in Israel averaged 6.7% in Q1 2012, compared to 6.8% in the final quarter of last year.

The unemployment rate in Israel averaged 6.7% in Q1 2012, compared to 6.8% in the final quarter of last year.

The sectors seeing the greatest rises in the number of employed people were business activities, community, social & personal and other services, and accommodation services & restaurants, totalling around 12,000 workers.Wholesale & retail trade and repairs saw an extra 11,000 workers, health, welfare & social work a further 6,000.

Meanwhile, public administration, transport, storage & communication (15,000), manufacturing (9,000) and banking, insurance & other financial institutions (6,000) saw net declines in the number of people employed.
