For the third consecutive month, there was a 5% change in the number of new professional jobs available in Ireland in June – in a positive direction this time, according to Morgan McKinley’s Irish Employment Monitor.
The number of new jobs was 8,302, up from 7,890 in May, but only a marginal rise of 1% on June 2011, reveals the analysis based on the financial recruiter’s own data.As reported by recruiter.co.uk previously, April saw a 5% rise in the number of new jobs, followed by a drop in May of the same figure. In March, it had been up by nearly a fifth (18%).
Compared to the same time last year there was a 3% increase in the number of new professional jobseekers in June 2012, reaching 9,855.
Morgan McKinley’s chief operations officer Karen O’Flaherty says: “We are beginning to see the effects of the traditional seasonal downturn experienced over the summer months... July and August are traditionally quieter months for recruitment and we would expect the hiring process to continue at a slower pace throughout this period.”
