Consultations have started on the launch of a single, national licensing system for electrical workers, which would give the country an AUS$22m (£14.5m) economic boost, according to Australia’s minister for tertiary education, skills, science and research Chris Evans.
Evans says that this reform is "essential at a time when there is a massive jobs growth in the North and West of the country”, which are its least populated areas. He says: “We need reform to make it easier for employers to relocate their skilled workers to areas of high demand and slash the amount of paperwork they need to complete to take on an apprentice.”
Information about the proposed reforms is available from the National Occupational Licensing Authority's website.
