Geneva and Zurich were the two major European financial centres offering the best pay for fund management professionals over the last two quarters, financial recruiter Selby Jennings finds.
Its report shows that fixed income as an asset class pays the highest salaries at the junior level across Europe, while equity pays the highest at a senior level.Following the two Swiss cities, London and Frankfurt recompensed the next best, followed by Paris.
“Since there is a higher concentration of private banks and private wealth managers in these two financial hubs,” says the report, “there is increased investment activity and a higher premium for these skills and expertise. Also due to the high cost of living in Switzerland, companies need to pay a higher base salary to attract quality candidates.”
