Job board Monster’s Employment Index for the UK shows 0% growth year-on-year in online recruitment activity in the month of June, although it crept up marginally month-on-month.
Last month, recruiter.co.uk reported the engineering sector as providing the biggest boost as activity grew by 3%, but this month it is only the second-fastest growing sector at 9%, with public sector, defence & community the major riser at 24%.
The Midlands was the region with the greatest online job growth at 8%, and North England was the only other region with positive growth at 2%.
UK & Ireland managing director at Monster Julian Acquari says: “Despite some stagnation in the economy, not all is bad in the UK’s labour market – we’ve retained the same level of online job demand as this time last year and have seen significant growth across many professional industries including transport, hospitality, engineering and the public sector.”
