Financial recruiter Morgan McKinley’s London Employment Monitor found a 33% decrease in the number of financial services jobs newly available between May and June of this year.
Andrew Evans, chief operations officer at the firm, says: “A drop in the number of job vacancies being released across the City in June is unsurprising. The scale of drop, however, at 33% is more of a surprise.”The survey finds 2,630 new jobs in June, which is a 53% drop on the same month in the previous year – very tightly correlating with a similar survey from Astbury Marsden reported by recruiter.co.uk last Friday [6 July].
There was also a drop in the number of professionals entering the jobs market, declining 3% on the month and 60% on the year, to 15,671.
