REC named Trade Association of the Year
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) was named Trade Association of the Year at the Trade Association Forum awards in Central London last month. Chief executive Kevin Green also received a special Leadership Award through his work heading the REC over the past four years. The REC picked up a third trophy, for Membership Pack of the Year, and a judges commendation for its ‘Your AWR Advisor’ campaign in the Sector Representation of the Year category.
Caan joins the IOR
Recruitment entrepreneur James Caan has joined the Institute of Recruiters (IOR). He will be heading the organisation’s online ‘Ask the Expert’ service, personally answering members’ questions. The seven other members of the panel include social media trainer and consultant Jorgen Sunberg, Nationwide Building Society head of resourcing Anne Carrigan and Lindsey Bell, a partner at law firm Clarke Willmott.
de Poel launches Tempo
Temporary labour procurer de Poel is to launch a paid-for membership body for recruiters and hirers, Tempo, and has had its membership of the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) cancelled as a result. De Poel will be at the heart of Tempo, the new organisation, and have other hallmarks of a trade body such as regular meeting and elected committees. ARC chair Adrian Marlowe told Recruiter that Tempo and ARC itself would be “very, very different” organisations with “different commercial interests”.
