Jacobs quits Office Angels for Clearstone Training

“I’ve been at Office Angels for 16 years, it’s a wonderful company… but I felt the time was right for a new challenge.”

Office Angels managing director Paul Jacobs is to leave the company on 23 October, to become chief executive of driver specialist Clearstone Training and Recruitment.

Jacobs joined the office and secretarial recruiter as branch manager for Oxford Street, London, in 1990. Before joining Office Angels, he had spent 14 years in the recruitment industry and held managerial and director-level positions for a number of recruitment companies. He told Recruiter: “I’ve been at Office Angels for 16 years, it’s a wonderful company and I’ve had a fantastic experience, but I felt the time was right for a new challenge. “I was drawn to Clearstone because of its fantastic business model. It has developed soundly and is now in a position where it can really take advantage of the opportunities available.” Jacobs, who has no transport experience, said he is relishing the challenge. “It’s new, fresh, and the prospect of new experiences is very appealing.” Clearstone, which became fully operational in 2004, is the UK’s largest trainer of new long and heavy goods vehicle drivers. It provides permanent recruits to the UK’s top logistics firms, including DHL, 3663 and Eddie Stobart. Clearstone’s co-founders Sam Gyimah and Chris Philp will remain closely involved with the company, Gyimah as deputy chairman and managing director, Philp as a non-executive director. Clearstone chairman and former group managing director at Hays, John Cole, said: “Jacobs’ appointment is a strategic move aligned to the goals and growth of the business. He will bring a tangible value to Clearstone as it moves to the next level in its development.”
