The downturn will not deter Britons from taking an annual holiday this summer, according to travel recruiters.

John Tolmie, managing director at AA Appointments, told Recruiter:

“The common thinking is that most people will still take their summer holiday and many tour operators have seen brisk business in the early parts of the year but a lot of people will be leaving booking until later in the hope of getting a bargain.

“Where holidays will more than likely take a hit is with those that take two or three holidays a year. This will undoubtedly be cut back.”

Barbara Kolosinska, director at c and m travel recruitment, adds:

“Everybody is watching the pennies. Deposits are decreasing to encourage people to book early. However, some will not want to commit and book late.

“People will still go on their annual holiday.”

Julia Feuell, managing director at New Frontiers, says:

“I think we’ll see more holidaymakers to the UK because of the pound, too, which will help our own holiday industry and GDP tremendously.

“Those travelling abroad are choosing all-inclusive holidays to make the most of their budgets.”
