Members of the ASWEB (the Association of  Social Work Employment Businesses) will be formally audited from the beginning of 2009 in an attempt to raise standards in social work recruitment.

Andrew Thorne, ASWEB’s chairman told Recruiter that the audit would ensure that all members meet the standards they signed up to.  These included ensuring that agencies interviewed all social work candidates face to face, and that all documentation was original.

All new members of ASWEB will be audited on joining, while existing members will be audited once a year, says Thorne. “We want to raise the bar for social work recruitment,” adds Thorne.
