The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) that come into force on 1 October will significantly reduce the number of suppliers used by clients of staffing companies, according to managing director of CDI AndersElite.

Ed Zetusky told Recruiter: “The AWR is going to drive consolidation. We are currently seeing our customers looking to consolidate their current lists to around four or five suppliers”.

Zetusky said that clients were keen to transfer the management of risk to suppliers, and that having a large number of vendors made this much more difficult.

For example, having 30 vendors made it harder for clients to be sure that temporary staff were receiving the right rates of pay, and day one employment rights, said Zetusky.

Zetusky said that in response to the AWR, CDI AndersElite had created an onboarding checklist for its clients.

“This checklist focuses on assuring day one requirements, such as access to collective facilities (such as childcare) are met along with providing pre-emptive risk evaluation of post 12-week requirements.”
