Five million people in Britain will be earning a bit on the side this bank holiday Monday, according to leading personal finance information site Fool.co.uk.
The study found that 38% of people in Britain have one or more jobs that are separate from their main occupation.
It found that 30% of people say they have another job, 7% have two jobs apart from their regular day job and 2% are holding down three or more jobs.
The poll found that people who work in Northern Ireland are some of the most likely to moonlight, while East Midlands workers tend to stick to just one job.
The research found that 70% of people say their main employer is not aware of their other jobs, while 43% say their bosses forbid employees holding multiple jobs.
It found that not everyone moonlights for money, 47% say their main motive is to earn extra cash and 19% of people moonlight to broaden their horizons.
