Banking & Finance: Opportunties in Energy?
The booming energy sector is providing light for finance recruiters as salary gaps close and positions provide opportunities for the glut of candidates hitting the market.
The booming energy sector is providing light for finance recruiters as salary gaps close and positions provide opportunities for the glut of candidates hitting the market.
Adam Nichol, head of marketing at specialist executive search consultancy GRS told Recruiter the natural flow between the two sectors has increased dramatically. “We are placing [personnel] in risk management and risk analysis. They are the investment bankers, the energy traders,” he says, adding the company placed 18 ex-Lehman Brothers employees in energy companies.
The increase in placements between the sectors has been aided by changes in salary for comparable job roles.
“The difference in salary seems to be closing quite rapidly. It’s about 7% at the moment and last year it was about 18%,” says Nichol.
