Former Blue Arrow chairman Antony Berry has led a management buyout of Berry Recruitment Limited (BRL) from healthcare specialist Multi Group.

Berry's buyout company is paying Multi £500,000 cash and will also assume £1.37m of BRL liabilities. BRL, a general recruitment firm, recorded sales of £6.5m in 2005. It is likely to have made a loss of £300,000 for the year.

Surrey-based Multi, formerly a tool hire business, acquired BRL in March 2005. It also acquired Berry Medical, which it is keeping.

“The sale allows us to dispose of a loss-making subsidiary and focus on our medical and care businesses,” said Multi executive chairman Oliver Cooke.
