Cameron outlines all-out mission to create jobs

Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged to create 37,000 jobs through investment of nearly a billion pounds of public money, reports Sky News.

This includes around 1,000 construction jobs with two new power stations due to be built in the North of England.

Last month Deputy PM Nick Clegg said he wanted to speed up the planning permission process for 40 large infrastructure projects.

The roll-out of high-speed broadband will also create jobs, with culture secretary Jeremy Hunt telling Sky News: “We want to see shovels out on the roads. We want to see telegraph poles going up and fibre-optic cables been strung into remote communities.”

Hunt adds that the government is aiming to have 90% of the country with a 24 megabyte connection when the project is finished.
