Monday
Start the week off bright and early with a team meeting, coffees and the general Monday morning buzz. Take a call
from one of my old clients who has just moved to a new firm which has so many temps. She is off to meet the CEO with a proposal for us to take over all temp recruitment. Waahey! Find a cracking web developer, so spend lunch time marketing him out. Interview arranged for tomorrow. Finish off business proposal for my boss regarding a new division.
Tuesday
Early start. Interview a great candidate from a PR background working for Microsoft. Phone all companies and hit the jackpot just when I was about to give up. New client meeting — unhappy with provider so gives me a go. Afternoon consists of a mildly annoying issue (‘bad’ and ‘problem’ are banned words in the office) — a flu epidemic spreads through one of my largest clients meaning two temps are sent home.
Don’t you just love air conditioning…
Wednesday
Disruptive but hilarious morning. Video crew in to film my director for the Business Link website then followed by another cameraman for the Enterprise Award Finalists video. Belated yearly review. A promotion to senior temporaries consultant! Back to office on a high and feeling positive for 2009. Celebrate promotion with a few glasses of wine.
Thursday
Attend a new client meeting I had arranged the week before off the back of a cold call. A big user of temporary to permanent staff throughout the year. Arrive back in the office and call all existing clients and re-book if required for the following week. Then begin my weekly call around of
all current candidates. Monthly team meeting in the afternoon. Awarded ‘Bean of the Year’, which all the team nominated me for. Looking forward to swanning off to my 5-star hotel for a long weekend.
Friday
After being attacked by the office puppy (no, really!), head off for a morning networking event. End up sitting next to a director from one of my HIT list clients. Nothing better than chatting over a cooked breakfast as opposed to doing a cold call. Meeting them in early March. Review
meetings all morning then back into the office for interviews and housekeeping. Finish off the day handing in business proposal for a new division. We can go ahead with it! Finish early and head out to one of my clients for a birthday bash.
