Diary of..._2
Monday
My day begins by meeting new contractors at one of our largest clients. I like to personally meet any new starts and I think it helps to build up a good rapport. I return to the office for the daily meeting, which we have every morning to discuss what’s happening with my team. We discuss current vacancies and any issues, and it keeps everyone informed and up to date. I usually have lots of emails and calls to deal with at the start of the week.
Tuesday
Spend a lot of my day arranging trade tests for welders as part of an ongoing vacancy we are working on. For those who pass the test, I arrange medicals, check and submit their security forms, which are quite in-depth and require stringent checking and also follow up on references, which ensures we are submitting the best possible candidates.
Wednesday
Out and about today, meeting new clients who want to get details of our terms & conditions and discuss new vacancies. I like to do site visits to fully understand the job role and the requirements of the client. In this way I am able to tell candidates exactly what the job is about and also get a feel for the work environment.
Thursday
We have a new member in our team and I spend some time training her on our database explaining how to log CVs. We have a standard format for CVs that are sent out to clients and we go through how to format them. Next, a meeting with representatives from our local football
team, Barrow AFC, which Morson sponsors, making arrangements for a corporate match day, where we invite clients to the match and a meal after the game.
Friday
Hosting interviews in our office for a client today. We’re often asked to use our office and help out with interviews, especially for some smaller companies which do not always have the expertise. Contact all my new starts for Monday, ensuring they are attending and are clear about
arrangements for their inductions. Looking forward to tomorrow, which will hopefully include a nice long walk with my dog, Paris, on the beach near my home, a trip to the gym and a visit to the Lakes with my family for some well earned me time.
