Managing director, Hasson Associates Recruitment
Monday
Have coffee with the team to discuss the week. As a new company, we are just 18 months in and while affected by the downturn are still positive about the future. In the evening, go along to a networking event. Meet a web designer who has been strongly recommended. We can now start to build our site, which is really exciting.
Tuesday
Delighted as we got one of my favourite candidates a job and she started today, so gave her a call to to wish her good luck. Meeting with a prospective client, which goes really well, and they give us their UK and Middle East vacancies. One of the team signs the deal on an executive
search assignment, so we celebrate with sushi for lunch. Catch up calls until 8pm and go home with a notebook full of ideas and things to do. Find some time in the evening to Twitter.
Wednesday
Candidate meeting at 8am. Then team meeting to discuss the new website — make calls to clients and candidates to see what they want to see on a recruiter’s website. Want to turn this around really quickly. Lunch at desk, CVs out, interviews booked, ads written. In the evening go for a drink with a prospective consultant — we’re new, so a few glasses of wine is part of the process.
Thursday
Banking. Watching that cash flow is an obsession, so check that payments go in and update forecast. Politely chase a few late payers. Back to the day job — give feedback on interviews and book some final stage meetings which are part of a campaign we have been working on. Order
some trees — we are planting a tree for every placement in our attempt to be carbon neutral, which seems to go down well with our candidates.
Friday
Paperwork! Invoices out for placements starting next week and renew Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) membership. Negotiate an offer for a candidate. He says yes, which means this month’s target is hit with two weeks to go. It’s tough at the moment but we have a great team, so we’re all working together. Drinks to round off the week and then off home for a relaxing weekend. Well, that is apart from finalising our business plan, writing web copy, forecasting and some new business research…
