"We're not sure if it occurred by coincidence or by grand design, but the special 'care and feeding' of those working in the IT sector emerged as an informal theme in this issue of Recruiter.

It's one of the sexiest sectors around, in terms of ever-changing technologies, knowledge and, yes, money. But even in a field that can be extremely lucrative, IT contractors need to be sold on the job itself, as journalist William Knight points out in 'More than the money' (p31).

In this issue's Soapbox (p22), Vivek Mahajan of Contact IT Services speaks of how recruiters need to care to make a difference; an emphasis purely on filthy lucre can only end in tears for everyone. Vivek sums it up best on a variety of counts: "There are times when you hate it and times when you love it, but doing it right makes all the difference."
