Eurociett, the European confederation of private employment agencies, has recently announced 10 key recommendations which must be put into place if Europe is to keep as many people in work as possible.
The recommendations have been created to address three areas that Eurociett believes need immediate attention:
- Execute labour market guidelines so that recruitment agencies can better help the youth and long-term unemployed back into work
- Create a regulatory environment for the sector which will help facilitate the mobility of workers within the EU
- Develop a shared commitment for growth which will encourage agencies to provide skills training to workers and also encourage a better working relationship between private and public sector agencies
“The European labour markets are not functioning as well as they should be and the Lisbon 2010 employment targets have not been met,” says Eurociett president, Annemarie Muntz.
“The agency work industry can make a positive contribution to the labour markets’ better functioning: it helps people from diverse backgrounds to enter the labour market, enhances skills and facilitates the creation of jobs that would otherwise not exist.”
