IT recruiter First Point Recruitment billed more in April than the first three months of the year combined, after targeting niche skills and developing existing clients.

Tom Fahey, managing director at First Point Recruitment, told Recruiter: “In IT there’s always five or six skills in demand. We get regular reports from consultants and share information throughout the office to see who and what we should be targeting.”

Fahey added the company has increased its use of social networking sites and forums to talk to IT professionals about specialist skills, taking advantage of their specialist industry training to talk to users.

Skills in demand include software programmers with experience of Scrum, .Net 3.5, Silverlight and Microsoft SharePoint.

The company has also increased its penetration into existing clients, rather than concentrating on business development and increasing KPIs according to Fahey.
