The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) is yet to sub-let its former headquarters in London's Mortimer Street, about eight months after moving to bigger premises in nearby Welbeck Street.
Director of external affairs Tom Hadley told Recruiter: "We did have one sub-let deal lined up, but they pulled out."
He declined to say how much it was costing the REC or how much longer the lease has to run.
The REC made the move last year as it had outgrown its old HQ. By having bigger premises, the trade body has saved on the costs of hiring commercial venues for meetings.
In 2005, REC generated revenue of £4.95m, up 15% on 2004, thanks largely to increased membership. Its operating surplus fell to £72,500, from £203,489.
At the time of its last accounts in May last year, the REC employed about 75 people, up from 68 a year earlier.
