University leavers will increasingly require “employability” skills, according to Elizabeth Ewen, head of talent at Michael Page International.

Ewen was speaking at a Graduate Recruitment Roundtable in London last week, supported by Michael Page, Recruiter magazine and the Employers Forum on Age.

Meanwhile,a study out today from High Fliers warns that competition is now so fierce that many companies are refusing to consider even the brightest graduates unless they have relevant work experience.

Gissing says that while the graduate jobs market becomes ever more competitive, those graduates that can stand out in the market through gaining work experience and commercial skills that will land roles.
