IT recruiter Spring has been doing its bit for 'charidee' by taking part in the Great River Race.

The 22-mile race, from Richmond to Greenwich, took place last month, and Spring's hardy eight-man crew completed the course in three hours, raising more than £2,500 for the company's chosen charity, National Children's Homes.

Recruiter contends that sponsors would have paid to see chief exec Peter Searle's rowing skills as much as the worthy cause itself. Indeed, Searle says it is an exercise the company "would love to repeat".

Whether his seven cohorts in the boat with him would agree is perhaps a matter for debate…
