Energy sector recruiter Acre Resources found over 68% of climate change workers identifying themselves as feeling as or more secure now compared to 12 months ago.
Andrew Cartland, managing director of Acre Resources, told Recruiter its clients had started to use more contractors: “The green market has historically been one of permanent job placements.
“However, as the field broadens we are seeing more opportunities for contractors as engineers become more involved in the space, innovation creates short-term opportunities and many organisations opt for a more flexible workforce in light of the uncertainty of economic downturn.”
Cartland added that salaries had gone up, particularly among climate change professionals: “We now see more jobs paying six figure salaries, particularly as climate change has started to pull in senior managers from other areas of business.”
The Carbon Salary Survey found that the average salary within the climate change space is £48,000, and that 24% of individuals working within the field earn in excess of £63,000.
