Green whisky? What’s all that about?

Another press release which caught our eye straight away began thus: “All recruitment businesses should follow the lead set by the Scottish whisky industry…”. Our attention was immediately grabbed. However, we read on: “… by pulling together to minimise the impact on theenvironment.”

Apparently the Scotch whisky trade has set a stunning example by announcing that it will cut the use of fossil fuels by 80% over the next 40 years. That will be the equivalent of taking 235,000 cars off the road by 2050.

Green expert Simon de Grey from training firm Pivotal Performance says: “This is a stunning commitment from an industry that wasn’t even
under significant pressure to go green. I hope this inspires other industry leaders to do the same.”

We’ll raise a few drams to that!
