Employees fear working from home may damage their careers
Nearly 60% of office workers believe that requests to work more flexibly by those without children could have a negative impact on their careers, a survey from business communications provider Inter-Tel has found.
Many thought that making a request for a better work/life balance could be interpreted as being a poor team player or too laid back.
The survey found that 90% believed that all employees, irrespective of their domestic or parenting situation, should have the same rights to apply for a more flexible working life. Although 54% said they did not know if their employers treated all people equally when they made the request, 30% said they were not.
