The hospitality sector is attracting candidates from various industries, according to recruiters.

The hospitality sector is attracting candidates from various industries, according to recruiters.

Mark Norris, chief executive at hospitality specialist Profile, told Recruiter that candidates from a variety of disciplines now think they can turn their hand to hospitality.

“We are getting all sorts of highly qualified people from other industries. Doctors, lawyers and others who have a gift with people and think there might be a good career for them in hospitality.”

Emma Lumsden, director at The Espirit Group, adds: “We certainly get a constant stream of people to find out whether there is administration work, whether they want to further their career in the events industry. There is a lot of movement around the industry and from different sectors, where before we would have got them from catering college or event management school.”
