HR experiencing ‘ceasefire’ in war for talent

There has been a ceasefire rather than an end to the war for talent, according to HR recruiters.

There has been a ceasefire rather than an end to the war for talent, according to HR recruiters.

David Abbott, director at HR Talent Pool, told Recruiter that there had been a ceasefire but the underlying war rages on.

“There is a bit of a ceasefire. It is still there. There will always be a war for talent but it is like Christmas in the trenches where they have stopped shooting each other but the war is not over. This applies to HR professionals as much as anyone else. I expect the ceasefire will last nine months.”

Alison Hughes, director at Higher Talent, adds: “The war for talent is not over.  There are more candidates on the market (and more candidates than jobs certainly) but the highly sought after talent is staying put.  Talented individuals are working hard, performing well and hanging onto their job security.  The challenge for hiring companies is to identify these individuals, approach them and sell them a compelling reason to move, which is best done by headhunters/search consultants.”
