Dubai officials are looking at reducing visa fees and allowing 100% ownership of businesses outside its free zones in an effort to stimulate economic activity, according to Emirates Business 24/7.<

Dubai officials are looking at reducing visa fees and allowing 100% ownership of businesses outside its free zones in an effort to stimulate economic activity, according to Emirates Business 24/7.

The e-newsletter reports today (18 May 2009) that the moves are intended to stimulate economic activity. Also, Dubai has already started to reduce registration fees, a move which is likely to be rolled out officially in June as the emirate revamps its 2015 strategic plan to take into account challenging economic times.

Business 24/7 quoted Khalid Al Kassim, deputy director-general of Economic and Sector Development at the Dubai Department of Economic Development, as saying: “We are looking at every single fee and we are ready to remove them if there’s no impact or value added in the business.”
