A Chinese company’s construction of a bridge in the Northern region of Mozambique will create 2,000 jobs, reports China’s Xinhua news agency.

The 60m metres high, 3km-long structure will be constructed over a 30-month period by the Chinese Road and Bridge Corporation.

It will see 800 people resettled and has been hailed by Mozambican president Armando Guebuza as an example of co-operation between the respective governments.

"When we build something we must take full responsibility of it and take good care of it because all of us will benefit from it,” he adds.

“The project will boost economic activities of the districts that will benefit from the roads.”
