A study of contractors by IT recruiter Parity found contract length was the most important factor for 20% of IT professionals, followed by financial reward at 19% and location at 18%.

Alan Rommel, managing director of Parity Resources, told Recruiter focusing on contract length has not increased the length of time it takes to place contractors. 

“We haven’t seen any significant increase. However, if it’s a short project, then it might not have the same appeal to contractors,” he says, adding that encouraging staff to move positions may become more difficult in 2009.
