Monster launches text messaging vacancy service in UK

Monster has launched its Target SMS service in the UK to send the latest relevant vacancies direct to Monster users’ mobile phones.

Monster has launched its Target SMS service in the UK to send the latest relevant vacancies direct to Monster users’ mobile phones.

Jobseekers whose CVs match an employer’s search criteria can now be notified of job opportunities by SMS. They can then immediately apply for the vacancy and speed up the application process.

“Target SMS is a highly effective way of making people aware of job vacancies that match their qualifications, no matter where they are,” says James Brian, director of product at Monster UK and Ireland.

“For people that don’t have access to a computer, it’s a streamlined way of making sure they don’t miss out on their dream job. In many industries, such as retail and manufacturing, vacancies are filled quickly and if you are not able to apply swiftly, you fall out of contention — particularly in today’s highly competitive market.

“Target SMS also means employers can save time in filling positions. Given the vast majority of people carry a mobile, it makes perfect sense to use them as a real time tool to keep in touch with potential jobs.”

Receiving messages from Monster is free to all jobseekers when they opt into the service at monster.co.uk, although service providers may apply standard message charges.
