Recruiters are likely to pursue more mergers and acquisitions next year, according to Christopher Clark, corporate finance director for BDO Stoy Hayward.

"Private equity will play an important role in some of the larger deals," he predicted. "As scale becomes more important, the 'buy and build' strategy is increasing."
