The majority of City lawyers still expect to receive a bonus, according to a new survey.

The survey, fromexecutive recruiter GRS, shows that 64% of legal professionals predict they will still get a bonus, while only 20% think their bonus will be smaller than last year and 14% expect their bonus will double.

Fiona Gibb, head of GRS Legal, said: “These results have to be taken in context.  Less than a third of financial services professionals expect this year’s bonus to match or exceed last year’s payouts.  But almost two thirds of legal professionals expect their bonus this year to match or exceed last year’s.  While the City’s lawyers are clearly not immune from the credit crunch, they seem to have built up a pretty healthy resistance to it.  They’re better off than many other professions in London.”
