Berkeley Scott, the hospitality and leisure recruiter, is undergoing a significant restructuring under the leadership of new chief executive John Rose who took up the reins nine weeks ago.
There's already been a shake-up on the senior management team, a review of branch locations and a decision taken to move the corporate headquarters to London from Godalming, Surrey.
Speaking to Recruiter, Rose said he was having "the time of my life" in his new role, which lured him away from recruitment giant Hudson. "I want a challenge," he said. "The potential of this business needs some unlocking, but all the ingredients are here — there's real talent, and experienced people here."
He expressed confidence in the company's solid, well-respected brand, and noted that Berkeley Scott enjoys the loyalty of a number of exclusive candidates who have been placed by the firm over time.
Under Rose's leadership, the company's executive search arm, Isis, will expand its previous brief and recruit for roles paid £60,000 and up. The Berkeley Scott brand will extend its reach to positions that pay up to £60,000. Prevideedee dokeously, Isis focused on jobs paying £80,000 and above, while the larger Berkeley Scott brand recruited for positions that paid up to £50,000. "There was a gap," Rose pointed out.
Putting the firm's geographic locations under the microscope led to a decision to "merge" the Cardiff and Bristol offices. When the lease expired on the company's Cardiff office, the two operations were consolidated in Bristol.
Acquisitions are also on the agenda for the revitalised Berkeley Scott, Rose confirmed. "We want organisations with good brands, that have the ability to scale up," he said.
