Nissan is seeking candidates to fill 75 advanced apprenticeships over the next five years.
The move comes with the announcement that the first Jukes - a small model car set to replace the Micra -are set to roll off the production line at the firm’s Sunderland plant in October. Nissan also announced it is to extend its educational outreach programme until 2014, which will benefit 6,000 school students and 750 university engineering students. The site currently employs 4,900 staff.
A Nissan spokesperson told Recruiter the car maker would be recruiting trainee maintenance technicians and administration assistants.
The spokesperson adds that it would use jobs fairs, local newspaper advertising, information sessions at schools and its company website to source these apprentices. It will also continue ongoing partnerships with Gateshead College and the University of Sunderland.
“While we cannot guarantee a job at the end of the apprenticeship, historically, apprentices who successfully complete their training have been offered positions with the company.
“We are looking for people who are able to follow instruction and cope with pressure. They need to be well organised and able to plan their work.
“Most importantly, they need to be able to work as part of a team,” the spokesperson said.
